An Extremely Rare and Very Large Doulton Lambeth Jardiniere, attributed to George Tinworth. Not marked or signed and no impressed marks, however some of his early pieces were often not marked. (Could be a prototype which did not go into production - I have never seen another example).Modelled in the highest quality, it depicts Four standing Cherubs with their heads held low supporting. The Jardiniere Bowl aloft and with wonderful Lions masks between each Cherub each. Cherub is holding a Lion head for support - Totally Charming!
Around the underside of the rim are beautifully raised Pairs of Lions with Wings which. Alternate with Horses also with Wings.When turned up-side-down there are superbly moulded Acanthus Leaves, a lovely feature as. You would not normally see them from the top. Condition is good for age with minor losses in places and the square base has several chips. Around the edges as can be seen in the photographs.
